Barcelona
Barcelona particularly impressed us with its unique architecture. At every turn, you come across extraordinary buildings that give Barcelona its unmistakable character.
Of course, the works of Antoni Gaudí, such as the Sagrada Familia and Casa Batlló, are among the absolute highlights. But other architects have also left their impressive mark on buildings such as the Hospital de Sant Pau.
Yet Barcelona won us over in ways other than its architecture too. Numerous museums invite you to immerse yourself in the city’s art and history, whilst the city beach offers a relaxing break from sightseeing.
Casa Milà
Casa Milà, also known to many by the name La Pedrera, ‘the quarry’, is one of Antoni Gaudí’s most famous buildings in Barcelona. Even from the outside, the building stands out thanks to its unusually curved façade. Gaudí’s design concept continues inside as well. We were particularly impressed by the inner courtyard with its artistically designed staircase.
Our personal highlight, however, was the roof terrace. Amidst the numerous imaginatively designed chimneys and ventilation towers, you almost feel as though you’re in another world. At the same time, it offers a beautiful view over the rooftops of Barcelona.
